How Clean Are We? (5-8) Click the links to the right to view the online Teacher's Guide, Student Logbook, or visit WebQuest unit for this W.E.T. You can also download the Teacher's Guide and Student Logbook in either PDF or Word document format. It seems like everything is "antibacterial" these days. About 75 percent of liquid soaps currently on shelves in American grocery stores display that word on their labels, and we are constantly adding new antibacterial products to our cleansing arsenals. So are we cleaner now than ever before? And what about using antiseptics such as alcohol-based gels in place of soap? The first step in answering these questions is to determine how soaps actually work. This lab is proposed to develop insight into the subtleties of different personal hygiene techniques and demonstrate once again the importance of hand washing.
