Diversity » Pre-College Diversity

In order to fulfill the long-term goal of increasing the number under-represented groups in faculty level positions in science and engineering, it is necessary to begin involving women and minorities in these fields while still in high school. Campus visits, sponsored by WaterCAMPWS and focusing on the engineering and water purity research facilities, allow high school students to see first-hand the excitement and opportunities available to them in college. They can gain an even better understanding through internships in a WaterCAMPWS laboratory during the summer. In addition, many of our educational activies for pre-college students are directed at minority and under-represented students.
