Education and Diversity
The future progress of water purification in the United States and the world depends on developing a diverse workforce of educators, scientists, engineers, and practitioners. WaterCAMPWS efforts to improve the educational pipeline for these careers begin with the education of elementary, middle-school, and high-school students and their teachers and progresses through undergraduate and graduate educational programs and postdoctoral fellowships.
The Education and Diversity goals of the WaterCAMPWS Human Resource and Development program are to:
- Develop and maintain a diverse U.S. workforce of educators, scientists, engineers, and practitioners to advance water purification in the U.S. and beyond.
- Create a sustainable pipeline of talented students, especially students from traditionally underrepresented groups, to meet the challenges of water purity in years to come.
- Increase the scientific literacy of the public at large.
