The WaterCAMPWS has established the Student Leadership Council (SLC) with the primary goal of providing a voice between students and administration. Both graduate and undergraduate representatives from the main centers that comprise The WaterCAMPWS participate in the SLC. The SLC contains social and supportive components that allow students to enhance their research experiences and further their career aspirations. Specifically, the Student Leadership Council offers: opportunities for travel grants, professional development workshops, lectures from leading researchers, and mentoring programs.The SLC Executive Committee is comprised of graduate students nominated by The WaterCAMPWS administration. Members of the Executive Committee share the responsibility of chairing SLC meetings, recording minutes, and other duties as necessary. You can contact the Committe by e-mailing campwsslc@gmail.com . The past 2008-2009 officials left their positions expressing the following..."Thank you everyone who joined us for our picnic last Friday(September 11, 2009 at the Illini Grove)and voted for the new Water CAMPWS Student Leadership Council (SLC). We had a great turnout this year.We would especially like to thank all the nominees for the SLC and congratulate the following people who were voted in as the SLC committee for the 2009-2010 academic year...The position of communications chair was decided based on a coin toss since voting resulted in a tie between Ofelia Romero and Jong Kwon Choe. As the outgoing members of the SLC, Tias Paul, Leonardo Gutierrez, and Lucija Rakocevic would like to thank the Water CAMPWS center, students, and support staff who helped make the past year a fruitful one for the SLC. We look forward to another great year under the new leadership!"
